For her heart
“Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.”
Not a to-do list — a portrait of a woman secure enough about tomorrow to laugh at it. Pray for that security, not the productivity the chapter is famous for.
“The LORD, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.”

“God is within her. She shall not be moved. God will help her at dawn.”
Help at dawn — first thing, before she has produced anything or held anyone together. Pray it for her mornings.
For what she carries
“In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.”
The guard-duty verse. Many wives run the family’s entire anxiety department alone; pray the guard onto her thoughts.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices.”
Strength for the inside, shield for the outside. Both, daily.
“You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.”
Peace tied to where the mind stays. Pray her mind finds somewhere quiet to rest, especially at 2 a.m.
For your marriage
“You husbands, in the same way, live with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman.”
According to knowledge — of this woman, in this season. It makes studying your wife a spiritual discipline.
“Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.”
You feed and rest and defend your own body without being asked. The verse asks for the same reflexive care aimed at her.
“In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another.”
Preferring one another — the small daily contest to put the other first. Marriages are won in this competition.
