Terms of Service

Effective September 2, 2026

Welcome to VerseMates. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and VerseMates (“we,” “us”) that governs your use of the VerseMates mobile application (the “App”). By creating an account or using VerseMates, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use VerseMates

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed these Terms with you.

2. Your account

VerseMates signs you in with a one-time code sent to your email (or with Sign in with Apple). You are responsible for protecting access to that email account. You may sign out any time from the You tab, and permanently delete your account and data from You → Delete account.

3. Words of grace and partner content

VerseMates lets two consenting people walk together and exchange short, written “words of grace.” You are responsible for the content you send. By sending a word of grace, you confirm that:

  • You are sending it to a person who has agreed to walk with you.
  • It does not contain harassment, threats, hate speech, or sexual content.
  • It does not contain content that exploits, endangers, or sexualizes minors.
  • It does not infringe anyone's rights or violate any law.

4. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

VerseMates has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. You can report any message inside a conversation, and end and block a partner at any time. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours, and we may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. See our Community Standards.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use VerseMates to harass, intimidate, or harm another person.
  • Impersonate someone or misrepresent your relationship with them.
  • Attempt to access another user's data or break the App's security.
  • Use VerseMates for commercial solicitation, spam, or automated messaging.

6. Subscriptions and payment

The daily verse, the widgets and the Bible reader are free. The guided walks are sold as an auto-renewable subscription, offered monthly or yearly. On iOS the subscription is bought through the App Store, and your licence to use the App itself is Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; these Terms sit alongside it and govern the service VerseMates provides.

  • The price and the billing period are shown in your own currency before you buy, and payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
  • The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before that.
  • You can manage or cancel it at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the walks stay unlocked until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • Where a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
  • Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are Apple’s to give under Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions. Write to us anyway if something went wrong — we will point you to the right place.
  • If we ever change the price, Apple asks for your consent before the new price takes effect. If you do not consent, the subscription simply ends at the next renewal.

7. Termination

You can stop using VerseMates at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or our Community Standards. You can delete your account and all associated data from You → Delete account.

8. Disclaimer

VerseMates is offered “as is” and “as available.” VerseMates is not a substitute for spiritual direction, counseling, medical care, or crisis support. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VerseMates and its team are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know inside the App. Continuing to use VerseMates after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
